Baked Beans

My spicier version of baked beans will have you howling for more!

Who doesn’t love a plate of baked beans on toast?

I mean, it is the easiest supper to produce, yet it tastes amazing every time (especially if you put cheese in it).

But rather than using the mass produced stuff, I thought it might be nice to create my own, using a staple recipe of mine, in Tomato Sauce.

Basic Omelette

A quick and convenient dinner, so it’s not just for breakfast!

I started my culinary journey (without realising it) over 21 years ago, as a teenager, when my mum and dad went to the caravan at the weekends.

You know what it’s like at that age, I had grown out of weekends in Grooms-port and wanted to do my own thing.

Pulled Pork

A frighteningly realistic innuendo, or a special treat brought to us by our American friends? You decide.

It has taken me three goes now to start my new BBQ, without the use of lighter fluid, as I don’t wish to degrade the taste of the food.

I have tried everything, and finally created a chimney of charcoal, which worked perfectly.

So what to do first? Pulled Pork of course. It was delicious, and it didn’t last long.

Mushroom Soup

A recipe for a lady, don’t you know. Again.

The second in the soup series is a request from my lady, as she is a massive fan of the mushroom soup.

This is an interesting experiment, as it tastes exactly like the mushroom stroganoff recipe I made a while back.

To be fair, it wasn’t the most appetizing thing I have ever made, but it did bring through the taste of the mushrooms.

Carrot & Corriander Soup

Coriander tastes like soap to me, but this soup is perfect for bathing in…

It’s rare that I make soups, but then again, I am not really a soup kinda guy.

But the time has come to expand my culinary horizons, not since I made the smoky vegetable soup many eons ago.

So, to start this adventure, I give you the humble Carrot & Coriander. Coriander is not my friend, but I braved it anyway to give this very simple recipe.

Gerry’s Ratatouille

A family recipe thats amazing served with meat or on its own, vegetarians choice!

We’ve all seen the film, the mouse with the gift of cookery, in a place were he has no right to be.

Well, Gerry, Clare’s father, told me about this recipe around the time we had first met, and quite rightly, was very proud of it.

So he very kindly gave me it, and here it is pretty much word for word. Pro tip, add more Garlic than you think.

Goes down well with a good white wine. At least, that’s what Gerry said.

Veggie Rolls

I do love a good sausage roll, but these vegetarian ones are very hard to beat.

As I had posted in an earlier recipe, I am a great lover of Sausage Rolls.

But what about my vegetarian friends?

Good question, these are a delight, receiving reviews such as “these are amazing” to “OMG give me more!”. From Carnivores.

Vegetarian Masala

Its curry Jim, but not as we know it!

As I have wax lyrical on other blog posts, I have become quite attuned to spicier food than I normally would be.

I do like a good curry, but I usually tend to stick to Masala or Rogan Josh.

Cottage Pie

Maybe they call it a Cottage Pie due to the fork marks on the potato, looking like a thatched roof. All I know is it is very tasty.

Cottage Pie is a one pan, one meal wonder, considering you can fit all of your dinner requirements onto one plate.

Differing from Shepherds Pie by using Beef instead of Lamb, it is much more succulent, creating one of the best gravies yet.

Five Spiced, Chicken Fried Rice

Never go to the Chinese again, it’s so simple to do your own, in less time than it takes to travel.

Needless to say rice isn’t one of my favourite accompaniments, due to recent problems with cooking it as well as that it can be a bit bland in the eating.

However, I recently realised that a good fried rice recipe is as good as it’s ingredients, not just for rice.
