Baba Ganoush

Baba Ganoush, or aubergine dip, makes a great alternative to Hummus!

I am very lucky to work with a wonderful Greek lady, who helps me to understand Greek food.

One thing she told me about was an aubergine dip, and although she didn’t give a name for it, I assume it was Baba Ganoush.

The French Dip Sandwich

Triple D takes us to Flavour town with this tremendous French Dip Sandwich.

For those of you that follow my recipes, you will no doubt know of my love for Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, on the Food Network.

Want to hear something controversial? I love it more than Man VS Food! Yes, I did just say that!

One of the many recipes I have seen, is for the French Dip sandwich, and my own creation, based on last weeks Brisket recipe, can be found below.

Ingredients

  • 1kg Beef Brisket
  • 2 Large Onions
  • 1 Pint of Beef Stock
  • 1tbsp Worcester Sauce
  • 1tbsp Soy Sauce
  • Time
  • Floury Baps

Directions

1. Follow my Slow Cooker Beef Brisket recipe in full, but don’t through away the onions or gravy that is left.

2. Drain the onions, and put the remaining gravy into a saucepan to heat up. Keep simmering on a low heat.

3. Put some of the brisket onto your baps. Add some onions on top, alongside some mustard maybe.

4. Put the lid on the sandwich, and then get your tongs ready.

5. Dip the sandwich into the gravy, and serve.

Seems a bit weird, but actually it is delicious.

Go for a half dip, or if you are fully up for it, a full dip!

Slow Cooker Brisket

Take your meat to the next level with my basic slow cooker recipe for Beef Brisket.

Well, quite interestingly, I moved in with the love of my life recently, and have been enjoying cooking in a new kitchen, with some amazing ovens (especially for bread making).

But they aren’t the only cookers I have been using, as I have gotten to interact with my favourite piece of kitchen tech, the Slow Cooker.

Triple Cheese, Grilled Cheese

The richest and most delicious treat imaginable. But it’s hard to eat more than three. Sorry.

It is not often that I make something that is so delicious, yet can;t be finished because it is so rich in flavour.

I am not calling this my gourmet grilled cheese, simply because I could think of better cheeses to use.

Fougasse

Fougasse, made on #GBBO, controversial.

So, the Great British Bake Off then.

Full of controversy.

Why is Selasi still there when he is rubbish. Why does Tom look like a serial killer. Will Jane ever cry. Will Sue ever stop being there…

Rhubarb Jam

FatLad spends a weekend perfecting jam, and finds it to be a very easy and satisfying process all round.

So myself and my lovely lady were walking home from the daily grind, and she said she was getting some rhubarb from a person in her work.

She asked me if I would make jam with it, which I thought was an odd request, until I realised the person giving us the rhubarb had requested it.

Orange & Vanilla Muffins

A new take on muffins, this time there isn’t a lemon in sight!

There comes a time in a FatLads life, which Lemon Drizzle cakes, or muffins, just don’t quite cut it any more, which is were the idea for Orange & Vanilla Muffins came to mind.

Maybe it is because I have eaten so many of them, but I thought I would shake it up for this recipe.

Pesto Pizza

Take a pantry and fridge worth of leftovers, and create this wonderful pizza with it. Mmmmmmm Pesto.

There comes a time were even I run out of things in my pantry, and have to make whats known in my house, as a throw together dinner.

So, I had some leftover Wholemeal Pizza Dough, and some leftover Pesto, and came up with this beauty of a meal.

Pulled Pork Goulash

Take pulled pork to a whole new level with my spicy goulash recipe, perfect for the slow cooker.

The slow cooker, it is fair to say, has brought about a huge shift in cooking, for those of us who don’t have a lot of time in the evening to create wonderful meals.

I mainly use it for pulled pork to be honest with you, but I saw this next recipe on the telly, and tweaked it until it became a household favourite.

Ginger Chocolate Granola Bars

I am aware I have told you about the virtues of Theos chocolate, especially considering my Lemon Drizzle muffins.
